Get Noticed 2017 has ended so now I can change software that I have been using without any delays in post publishing ( because I don’t have any deadlines now 🙂 First application that I have been using during the contest which and I wanted to change is Umbrello UML modeller. It is free and it is doing what it has to do but in my opinion work with it isn’t too comfortable. So I have been looking for diffrent UML application. Unfortunately choice of free software isn’t to big.

I have been searching for software that has reverse engineering tool and round-trip engineering tool and that narrow down my search for couple programs. I found:

  • BoUML
  • Eclipse Papyrus

Until now I have tested only BoUML. Unfortunately it doesn’t draw diagrams, but that is very easy after loading code to the program. Not every association is drawn as well so some work after reverse engineering is needed. Second nice thing that BoUML support is round-trip tool but I didn’t test it yet. I made two class diagram right now that I attached to this post as an example.ProcessesManager

Now I have to decide what next with the ThermoDynamic Processes calculator. I think that it is possible to finish it without changing first UML project, but I see already that it is too complicated for later developing. Sooner or later (probably sooner 🙂 I will have to change general project for it. I already have idea how to make it simpler. I hope it won’t end like Duke Nukem Forever and I will finish it finally 🙂
